Just see two coaches with gold written on them going through Harold Wood while I was doing my paper round with my Inverness caledoninan thistle hat on which contains the colours blue and white. Gawd knows what they must have called me seeming they were awake. Bless em

I like that team. But if the rumours are true I'd have Carroll on the bench

I agree about Ayew. Give him a little more time and I too saw glimpses of a decent player last Sat. His awareness is good. But I do not think you can have a team with Lanzini, Ayew and Payet in it. None of them are particularly defensive and in the modern game you cannot carry too many who do not close down that well or track back and have the physical presence. I thought Lanzini was again too quiet against Spurs. I was watching a dodgy stream so may have missed something but this season Lanzini looks tired and not as sharp. He played in the SouthAmerican cup thing and had no Summer break. Perhaps thats why?

Goalkeeper is a real dilemma. Adrian has been erratic this season although always had that in his locker. Some games he has saved us from a tonking with great saves while at the same time being responsible for a number of needless goals.

Randolph needs another chance but looked shaky himself last week. Not easy to be playing yourself into the team with trips to WHL and OT and a home game against the Gooners. He like Adrian seems a very good shot stopper but also like Adrian does not inspire when teh ball is in air or crosses etc.. Neither have that commanding presence. Maybe why there are rumours of us bringing another keeper in next season?

Team:
------------------Randy
----------Wily Ginge Oggy
Antonio ----------------Cressy
-----Ayew ---Obiang---Noble---Payet
---------------Sakho------------------------------------

Lanzini could start and be replaced by Ayew or visa versa but I plump for Ayew who has a bit more strength and showed some improvement last week.

Andy ChinaDoll to come on last 10 - 15 mins if needs be (likely).

Re: WHU team Vs Man U (League)
Agree with Infidel...give Ayew a run of games to see what he csn do...

Based on his past record he can score at the top level...but is nowhere near top striker quality...

He is a good replacement fo the uninspiring Moses of last season...

Sakho and Carroll if ever fully fit are our best strikers...then Flatcher Calleri Zaza in that order...

We really do miss Valencia...

Against a team that won 2 of their last 3 games 3-1 and 4-0 as opposed to against a team who hadn't won in something like 7 games....yes.

"That plus the fact I reckon we could do with an extra body in deeper midfield at Old Trafford means he comes in for me; 2 strikers up there would be a big risk."

A bigger risk than at WHL?

Where we took the lead twice when we had two strikers on the pitch?

Re: WHU team Vs Man U (League)
Without Reid who I am unconvinced about as a captain anyway - for an international captain he is a fucking mute - we don't have any natural candidates to take the armband unless Noble comes back in. That plus the fact I reckon we could do with an extra body in deeper midfield at Old Trafford means he comes in for me; 2 strikers up there would be a big risk. Sakho showed against Tottenham that until his fitness starts to show he is capable of doing a lot of running, closing down etc - and I'm not sure Ayew added a great deal to that to be honest. So I'd be happy with Sakho up front on his own, as long as when he is inevitably subbed we replace him with someone else who can keep up the intensity - perhaps Ayew, ideally Fletcher. Nothing to stop us chucking both on, or one alongside Sakho and going back to two up front if we're losing.

Without having to change the system at the back, therefore, I would go for-

Randolph

Antonio
Kouyate
Collins
Ogbonna
Cresswell

Lanzini
Noble
Obiang
Payet

Sakho

Only other option to get the extra body in midfield would be going to a 4 at the back and have Kouyate alongside Obiang which granted may be an improvement on Noble and Obiang but risks further upsetting the defensive shape at a time they are still adjusting to the last change around - also risks isolating Collins as one of 2 centre halves against their pacier forwards. That plus the aforementioned captaincy issues, and a suspicion that Ayew would struggle to get into the game anyway, tips the balance for me in favour of the above.

You can't chop and change the keeper twice in a week, and Adrian has had many more chances to redeem himself in the recent past than Randolph has at this point.

Re: WHU team Vs Man U (League)
I was responding to your earlier post that "Ayew hasn't pulled up any trees yet"

He has hardly played.

Almost every day on here someone says 'we need a new striker'.

Well we may or may not need a new striker. It's too early to tell.

We know that Callieri and Zaza are not good enough, but neither of them was ever intended as a first team player. They were brought in as stop gaps until Ayew, Sakho and AC were fit again.

Like it or not, Ayew is the club's marquee signing. He was excellent at OM, where he played alongside Payet. He won the club's player of the year award a couple of years ago.

For many on here he's not a big enough name, but then neither was Antonio, or Cresswell, or Lanzini.

We need to let Ayew have a run of games and then see whether or not the club's judgement was right.

If he plays the next five games and looks rubbish - as as happened to Tore, Nordveidt and Zaza - then by all means raise hell, but to write him off before he's even had a chance is nonsense.

FWIW I liked what I saw at WHL last week and I think he will turn out to be a very good buy when he gets to full match sharpness.

Bilic's words, not mine, I personally would keep the same team as Spurs (except the Collins change for Reid)

Re: WHU team Vs Man U (League)
Don't be daft.

Bilic won't leave Noble out, he's the captain of the team plus Bilic has already said in a roundabout way that we wouldn't of conceded those late goals at Spurs if Noble had been playing.

David L 11:41 Sat Nov 26

Yep - we need to leave Noble out of this one
